Gloria W. ![]() Gloria Caregiver & Family In March 2008, I announced that I was going to retire after 28 years of service with AT&T. My last day of work was April 30, 2008. It was suppose to be one of my happiest days. I had a vision and many plans of what my days would be like as a retired person. One of my plans was to get my mother into shape. I was going to take her for walks, and maybe have her join the senior center for moderate exercise. Those dreams never came true. On March 31, 2008 my mother had a stroke. Her left side was affected. My life and my plans all changed. With the help of my sister, we care for our mother. She is 73 years old. The National Stroke Association has helped with all the wonderful information available to us. It is very difficult to motivate my mother to exercise so that she may remain strong. I read to her all the amazing stories from the National Stroke Association website, and it helps to lift her spirits that maybe she too can live life to its fullest as a stroke survivor. Thank you for publishing such a beautiful website and for giving stroke survivors hope for the future. |
