Linda W.  Caregiver & Family My husband had a brain stem stroke which left him in a locked-in condition. He could not speak or move. I stayed with him in the hospital morning through night, fighting the medical world to keep him alive and safe. The insurance moved him to Miami because that was the only place that would accept him. Our home is in Jacksonville where our family lives; however, I moved down to Miami with him. We were there for six months before my husband died. I did research on locked-in syndrome to find a solution that would help him. I found that there is only one place in the USA that has a treatment that would have helped him. They did not have approval from the FDA in time to help my husband. I want to tell people about strokes and make people aware. That is the reason I think that my husband had this type of stroke. I am doing a blog in honor of my husband. Maybe it can save someone from what he went through. I loved him dearly and still do. |
