Caregiver & Family
Almost three years ago, I lost my mother to a massive stroke. The stroke led to bleeding in her brain, which in turn left her with brain damage. Her stroke was sudden and drastic. She was on life support for seven days, and we were left with the decision of whether or not to take her off of it. Her brain had lost all of its function, and finally, the ability to gag was the last to go.
She died in her sleep. Her death left a hole in my heart, but it also gave me the strength to change my health lifestyle. It turned me into an advocate to educate my family and friends about stroke prevention, so we wouldn't have to deal with another loss to stroke.
