Caregiver & Family
Dad always said knowledge was a powerful thing. He put himself through 3 trade schools on the GI bill after WWII, and worked 2 jobs to help me through college and medical school. As a novice Stroke Neurologist, I practiced all my talks on him and he passed on those messages at his Veterans meetings to anyone who would listen. But when dad had his right hemisphere stroke, he was too disoriented to help himself and kept dialing the wrong phone number. Fortunately, the stranger on the other line realized he wasn't making prank calls and used star69 to report his number to EMS. Knowledge is a powerful thing - you never know when it will will save a loved one. Know the signs and symptoms of stroke, and call 911-EMS, and share the message to anyone who will listen.
