David D. ![]() David Survivor Stroke at Age TenDavid Dow suffered a massive stroke while on a family vacation to Las Vegas. At 10 years old, he was left with his entire right side paralyzed and with global aphasia. He was unable to speak, read, write, or understand what people were saying to him. This is a five-minute video made by David. It chronicles his recovery over the past fifteen years. David believes the video format is more accessible to other stroke survivors, especially those with aphasia. It shows him in rehab over the years as he recovers from his stroke. David is an active advocate on behalf of others. He wanted to be a doctor like his father in order to make a difference. The stroke can't rob him of that. He can still make a difference as he inspires other stroke survivors to "never give up."
