Mini-Stroke Doubles Risk of Heart Attack

Patients
who have had temporary stroke symptoms known as a transient ischemic attack
(TIA) have twice the risk of heart attack as the general population, a new
study has found. TIA patients who had a subsequent heart attack were three
times more likely to die during the 20-year study than those who did not have a
heart attack. These findings signify the importance of screening TIA patients
for signs of heart disease, researchers say.
