Richard Mika is a 9 year stroke survivor. When he first came out of his eight day coma he was told told he would never be able to walk, talk or speak. He figured if he came this far he was going to prove everyone wrong. After months of rehab, a lot of hard work, strong deterination and his deep faith in God he was able to beat the odds. 7 months later he felt called to help other Stroke A Survivor. Rich has been a volunteer at Resurrection Medical Center for 7 years. He has given support and encouragement to hundreds of stroke A Survivor since he began and continues to love it as much as he did when he first started. He is also actively involved with Resurrection Health Care's five Joint Commmission certified Primary Stroke Centers and the RHC Afterglow Stroke Support Group. Rich Mika is a true example that there is hope after a stroke with the help of faith, love and determination.
