I am ... A Survivor

I am 44 years old, a former Marine, a police Officer and a SWAT entry team operator. In March 2010 I was in the gym at work working on advanced ground fighting techniques and suffered a severe stroke. I was in top shape and have been all my life. I wrestled for 16 years, was in the Marine Corp for 9 years and have been a police officer for 15 1/2 years. Thanks to my level of physical fitness I was able to get back on my feet fairly quickly, but was then sidetracked by an insurance rule only allowing 20 Physical therapy visits per incident. I am now back in therapy, but frustrated by my physical condition and system red tape. Being young and completely surprised that this could happen to me I look forward to the opportunity to help others and/or raise awareness about stroke.
